Approximately early 20th century, this naive oil on board depicts a Lace Murex shell settling on the sea floor. It’s mounted in an Edwardian oak frame which would have likely been repurposed from an older painting. The frame had been heavily over-painted but has been stripped back and simply waxed to give it a subtle, pared-back look, evocative of driftwood.
