Futurist Painting by James Henry Wess (1933-1994) [10]

£25.00
sold out

Original gouache painting by artist James Henry Wess. Wess was born in Liverpool in 1933. He attended Liverpool College of Art, his first solo exhibition was at The Manor House, Ilkley.

He was primarily a sculptor but painted continuously throughout his life. Much of his work is very abstract and heavily driven by his interest in sculpture and ceramics. However, the period between the mid 1950s and 1960s saw him intensely focused on people and society. This particular painting could be considered the most unusual of his work within our collection and the only one that steps strongly into the realms of futurism. It is signed and numbered, though it’s unclear if this is a date or reference.

It is a small but powerful painting, measuring 34cm x 23.5cm.
