A very pretty c.1900 hand-knotted Persian rug. The pattern has a central floral theme with lots of small animal motifs within the inner design.

The colours would have once been much stronger as you can see from the back of the rug, especially the orange/red which has faded over time to a pink colour.

The rug is in fair condition for its age but does have some issues. The hand sewn edges, mostly on one side, are currently not lying flat. Possibly from someone storing it folded up in an inappropriate way. It may flatten and settle down overtime as it’s walked on, or it may need some attention.

There is also some colour variation, possibly where a shadow has been cast from furniture or a window, not greatly noticeable.

No holes or moth damage. Has been cleaned.
