Mounted in a beautiful antique style gilt frame, this contemporary acrylic on canvas painting mixes classical style with a modern and bright use of colour.

It was painted in 1996, when the artist, Stephen Maude was in his late 70s. The subject is Studley Royal House situated in the beautiful rural countryside just over 2 miles west of Ripon. Originally the stables for a much larger house, it was built between 1728 and 1732 in the Palladian style.

The painting is signed on the front and has a label on the reverse.
