Abstract Mid Century Art by James Henry Wess (1933-1994)
Original mixed media artwork by artist James Henry Wess. Wess was born in Liverpool in 1933. He attended Liverpool College of Art, his first solo exhibition was at The Manor House, Ilkley.
He was primarily a sculptor but painted continuously throughout his life. Many of his early work is heavily driven by his interest in sculpture and ceramic design.
This mixed media artwork is a combination of oil pastels and pen with a watercolour wash. This razor clam like form features in a number of his work.
The artwork is mounted, quite a few cm’s of the paper is covered by the mount. There is a mark where the mount once had a reference sticker.

No clear signature unless under the mouth. Came from a portfolio of other work from the mid 1950s-1960s.
