James Henry Wess was born in Liverpool in 1933. He attended Liverpool College of Art, his first solo exhibition was at The Manor House, Ilkley.

He was primarily a sculptor but also a keen ceramicist. His art pottery is often of a very sculptural and decorative form, such as this tactile vase from the 1970s.

The exterior is highly textured with some areas glazed and some with a matte finish.

Height 40cm.

Indistinctly signed on the base. Came directly from the estate of James Henry Wess.
